Sailing must be in my blood! It felt so good to be at the helm of Passing Cloud as we sailed in perfect conditions in the Great Bear Rainforest.
Three weeks house sitting in Paso Robles has been fun with two dogs and a kitty to take care of. I took out some time to do a little wine tasting and visited a couple of local craft distilleries. Now comes the hard part, leaving the animals that I have become so attached to.
I’m often asked what I do when I’m housesitting. Besides taking care of the animals in my charge and keeping the house neat and tidy, during this housesit south of Seattle, I’ve spent a lot of time exploring and visiting the craft distilleries in the area for the World Craft Distillery site.
The past four months as a full-time housesitter have been interesting and enlightening for me. Moving from house to house and learning about the pets I will be caring for is challenging and takes a bit of getting used to. But things are falling into place as I learn to live this new lifestyle.
I was thrilled to learn I won Outdoor Writers Association of California’s (OWAC) award for Best Outdoor Magazine Feature. I wrote Civilization in the Distance for Sailing Magazine last year.
