The time got away from me so this is a photo catchup of our time in the Cape. Gorgeous scenery, beautiful beaches, classic cars and memorable concerts round out our stay.
Getting used to a new country, or adjusting to a place I used to know but is now new to me, is a challenging proposition. Instead of being bombarded with Trump mania, mass shootings and political horrors in the US, I’m dealing with “load shedding” and school violence, local government whinging, plus the ongoing Zuma saga.
My memories of Durban jar with the reality I saw yesterday. My senses were overwhelmed by the chaotic traffic, the swarming people and decaying building, but I believe that if I look deeper, the old Durban is still there.
A grueling flight from LAX to AHU and on to Jo’burg and Durban. What a relief to have that over and done with, as I start to settle in to life in South Africa.
Whew, after the last week, I need a vacation! And I have just a couple of days to recover before I make the trek to South Africa.
Are there really such things as coincidences? Or was this just part of a giant plan to get me to look at things a bit differently and push me to write what I have been putting off for years?
