I have been very spoilt, visiting all the distilleries and going on fun day trips and outings. It feels like we were on the go every day! There is so much to see and do in the Cape Winelands area and we did our best to see a whole lot of it.
Distilleries and More Distilleries
My assignment is to visit craft distilleries in South Africa. In KZN, I visited Distillery 031 in Durban and Tapanga Rum in Zululand. In the Cape, the wine center of the country, distilleries are popping up all over the place.
Mobile Again
Over the holidays, and knowing that it was too busy to start visiting distilleries, Zoze and I had been relying on Biff and Julie for transportation, and it worked fine. They offered us the old Merc, a classic, but with the air conditioning not working and it being as hot as it was, we decided to rent a car.

Tourist Time in Western Cape
We arrived in Villiersdorp in the Western Cape just before Christmas and spent the few days preparing for the big meal and visiting Franschhoek Village Market and Stony Point Nature Reserve where the penguins live.
Catching Up in the Cape
Leaving on a Jetplane
We dropped off our rental at King Shaka International Airport and I was reminded of when I rushed back from South Africa four years ago when Ryan was taken ill. This departure definitely was not stressful at all for me. But leaving KZN was a little gut-wrenching for Zoze as she flies back to New Zealand from Cape Town, whereas I go back there after visiting the Cape.
